Fire destroys Papaikou home

Fire destroyed a Government Road home in Papaikou late Thursday night.

According to the Hawaii Fire Department, 10 units responded to the 10:46 p.m. alarm. The first unit arrived nine minutes later to find the two-story house fully involved in flames.

The fire was reportedly under control at 11:25 p.m. and extinguished at 12:32 a.m. Friday.

No injuries were reported.

Damages were estimated at $210,000 and the cause of the blaze is under investigation.
