Historic Kailua Village rings in the holiday season with Kailua Kalikimaka, its annual run of special events and activities that begin with a tree lighting at 5:45 p.m. Friday at Emma’s Square, located across from Hulihee Palace.
Presented by the Kailua Village Business Improvement District, the tree lighting features special musical guest Darlene Ahuna performing classic holiday favorites along with kumu hula Kenneth Aloha Victor and his award-winning Halau Kalaakeakauikawekiu for holiday hula.
Plan for a festive selfie spot with Miss Kona Coffee and Miss Aloha Hawaii as the tree lights up.

Dinner and a Movie
Bring the entire family to Dinner and a Movie Night at 5 p.m. Dec. 2 at Kona Commons. There will be free photos with Santa, popcorn, Christmas caroling with Aunty Tutu and a free big-screen showing of keiki favorite “Moana.” The film will be shown in the former Sports Authority. Don’t forget to bring your chairs; no coolers please.
Kokua Kailua
Be sure to shop local from 1-6 p.m. Dec. 10 at Kokua Kailua on Alii Drive. Support village merchants, artists and musicians as Alii Drive becomes a pedestrian-only mall.
Kalani Pe‘a in concert
As a gift to the community, the Kailua Village Business Improvement District presents Grammy award-winning artist Kalani Pe‘a in concert from 5-6 p.m. Dec. 10 on center stage. The concert is free.
Lighted Boat Parade
The holiday fun continues with the fourth annual Lighted Boat Parade at 6 p.m. Dec. 10 in Kailua Bay after the Pe‘a concert. Body Glove will be docked at Kailua Pier for great viewing with food and beverages available for purchase.
