Happy Hinamatsuri

Shown is the Hawaii Japanese Center’s Girl’s Day display. Girl’s Day is a Japanese custom that was traditionally celebrated every March 3 and was brought to the islands by the early Japanese immigrants. It was known as “Hinamatsuri” (Doll’s Festival) or “Momo-no-Sekku” (Peach Blossoms Festival). The center’s annual Girls Day Festival will be celebrated on Saturday, March 7, from 9:45 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Center, located at 751 Kanoelehua Ave. This free event is open to the public.
