HOT Peace Concerts raise more than $1,000 for mediation center

Two benefit concerts by Harmony on Tap (HOT) raised $1,723 for the Ku‘ikahi Mediation Center, a nonprofit that promotes peaceful solutions in the East Hawaii community.

“We were very honored to be selected as the beneficiary of this year’s peace concerts, which got rave reviews from audience members of all ages,” said Ku‘ikahi Executive Director Julie Mitchell.

“They truly are ‘cool women making hot music for a good cause.’’”

Amy Gregg and Jeri Gertz formed HOT in 2009 to combine their love of singing fun and meaningful music with giving back to the community.

HOT’s full-length concerts raise funds for local charities, including Ku‘ikahi in 2013.

“Ku‘ikahi’s mission is to empower people to come together — to talk and to listen, to explore options and to find their own best solutions,” Mitchell noted.

“To achieve this mission, we offer mediation, facilitation, and training to strengthen the ability of diverse individuals and groups to resolve interpersonal conflicts and community issues.”
