Memorial Day event scheduled at KMC
Kilauea Military Camp (KMC), in Hawaii Volcanoes National Park, invites everyone to honor all veterans for “A Day of Remembrance” in a special Memorial Day ceremony slated for 3-4 p.m. Monday, May 26, on the KMC front lawn.
LCDR Shawn Deweese, commanding officer of the U.S. Coast Guard Cutter KISKA in Hilo, will be the keynote speaker, and TSgt. Rita Miller of the 291st Combat Communications, Hilo, will be the guest speaker.
In case of inclement weather, the ceremony will be moved to the Koa Room, inside the lobby.
The park entrance fee will be waived from 2-3 p.m. for those mentioning they will be attending the ceremony.
A special Memorial Day buffet following the ceremony will feature Hawaiian kalua pork sandwich, local-style fried chicken, chili con carne and much more.
The public is invited to attend.
