Kupu Care, a community-based palliative care program, is inviting the public to its free talk titled “Where Quality of Life Matters for Patients and Caregivers” from 5-6 p.m. Wednesday at 1011 Waianuenue Avenue, Hilo.
Kupu Care, a community-based palliative care program, is inviting the public to its free talk titled “Where Quality of Life Matters for Patients and Caregivers” from 5-6 p.m. Wednesday at 1011 Waianuenue Avenue, Hilo.
The session will be presented by Kupu Care’s clinical relations manager Lani Weigert, who will share information for person living with a chronic illness and those that care for them.
“Many people in the community don’t know that palliative care is available to anyone at any age who suffers from cancer or advanced congestive heart failure,” Weigert said.
This month’s talk will focus on the types of support provided to patients and families by the program’s nurses, social workers and spiritual counselors.
“Cancer and congestive heart failure are a family diagnosis, meaning these illnesses affect the whole family and not just the patient,” Weigert said.
