Paradise Roller Girls roller derby themed bout May 9
In an epic battle of good vs. evil, the fate of the universe is in the balance as the Paradise Roller Girls present their roller derby themed bout of the season — “SuperHeroes vs. SuperVillains” — today at the Afook-Chinen Civic Auditorium in Hilo.
Doors open at 6 p.m., and the battle kicks off at 7 p.m.
Come out and support the rivals by dressing up as your favorite comic book superhero or supervillain and join the costume contest at halftime.
The action-packed fun is geared toward the whole family. Tickets are $5, free for keiki ages 5 and younger. Get tickets at Lucy’s Taqueria, Mountain View Village Video, Hilo Town Tavern, CD Wizard (add $1 surcharge) and Jungle Love in Pahoa.
You also can snag tickets online at www.paradiserollergirls.com, hit up your favorite derby girl or get them at the door.
Concessions will be available inside. No strollers, coolers or beverage containers are allowed.
“We will be giving away tickets to some of the Superheroes in our community, Hilo’s firefighters,” said a club spokeswoman. “Also, we will be encouraging the future Superheroes of the next generation, our keiki, by distributing 1,200 tickets to local kids through schools, sports teams and other organizations.”
