‘La Cage aux Folles’ auditions scheduled
Auditions are set for the historic Palace Theater’s 13th annual fall musical, “La Cage aux Folles,” which will be presented in October.
“The first auditions are on Wednesday night, July 23, at 6 p.m. at the Palace. This night is for dancers only, both male and female, since there are several big dance numbers featured in this show,” said the show’s musical director Quack Moore. “The next night, Thursday, July 24, at 6 p.m., auditions will be for the two male leads only.
“We’re looking for middle-aged men as one of them is the father of a 23-year-old son.”
Three weeks later, at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 16, and 6 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 20, auditions are slated for all other roles in the musical.
“I’m very pleased to join the Palace’s creative team,” said Douglas S. Scheer, the show’s director and longtime veteran of the Diamond Head Theatre on Oahu. “We’re also excited to announce Michael Misita will be on board as our choreographer. Michael comes to us from a long and distinguished career on Broadway.”
“If all those combined talents were not enough, high-fashion couturier Iris Viacrusis will be designing the costumes for the show.”
Performances are scheduled for 7 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays, Oct. 3-4, 10-11 and 17-18, and 2:30 p.m. Sundays, Oct. 12 and 19.
Advance tickets are available at a cost of $15. Tickets also will be available the day of each performance for $20. Tickets can be purchased at the Palace box office. Credit card orders are available by calling 934-7010.
