During the week of Jan. 13-19, Hawaii Island police arrested 29 motorists for driving under the influence of an intoxicant.
Seven of the drivers were involved in traffic crashes.
The numbers of arrests by district were: Kona, 15; South Hilo, 9; Puna, 3; and South Kohala, 2.
So far this year, there have been 82 DUI arrests compared to 57 during the same period last year, an increase of 43.9 percent.
There have been 66 major accidents so far this year compared to 69 during the same period last year, a decrease of 4.3 percent.
So far this year, there have been three traffic fatalities on Hawaii Island compared to two during the same period last year, an increase of 50 percent.
To date, none of the fatalities have been linked to impaired driving, police said.
DUI roadblocks and patrols will continue islandwide.
