Authorities warn about phone scam

Individuals are calling people randomly and claiming to be state sheriff’s deputies serving warrants for people who did not show up for jury duty, according to a written statement from the Department of Public Safety. The callers are offering to clear the warrant if people will pay for a product or service.

Sheriffs’s personnel will never call people about warrants having to do with jury duty or solicit the purchase of anything.

If you received a call matching this scam, please alert the Sheriff Division by calling (808) 586-1352.
