Pahoa slated to debut Mardi Gras extravaganza
Pahoa will host its first Mardi Gras Fashion &Fun Masquerade Extravaganza from 8 p.m.-midnight Saturday, March 1, at the Akebono Theater.
Hosted by Lola’s Sexy Bowtiki and Luquin’s Mexican Restaurant, the festivities will include a sample of fashions from these Pahoa boutiques: Jungle Love, Puna Style, Jeff Hunt’s Surfboards, Lola’s Sexy Bowtiki, plus a special showing of balloon fashions by Kourkie da Kreator, (Kourkie will also be doing face painting for guests).
There will be entertainment by Spa Paradissimo’s dance troupe, Todo Mundo Sambistas.
There will be prizes for the Best Female Impersonator Contest and the Best Masquerade Contest. Everyone is invited to dance to Mardi Gras-style music with DJs Luna Girl and Shamrock.
A cash bar will be provided by Luquin’s Mexican Restaurant.
Tickets are $5, in advance, or $7 at the door. Buy them at Jungle Love in the Malama Shopping Center and at Lola’s Sexy Bowtiki in downtown Pahoa, across from Kaleo’s.
