Odds & Ends for March 13

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (AP) — Organizers of an annual festival of laughter hosted a 5K race with a unique dress code.

As part of the 3.1-mile FUNderwear Run on Sunday morning, runners were encouraged by Gilda’s LaughFest to wear undies on the outside, over their clothes.

Organizers said about 300 people participated, with misty conditions and a 21-degree temperature at the 10 a.m. start.

The FUNderwear Run supports Gilda’s Club Grand Rapids, a free emotional health support community where people can find laughter in the midst of a cancer or grief journey.

Soccer player banned for biting

LONDON (AP) — An English lower-league player was banned 10 matches by the English Football Association for biting an opponent during a game.

Joss Labadie, who plays for fourth-tier team Torquay, was charged by the FA with violent conduct following a match against Chesterfield on Feb. 15. The FA said in a statement released Wednesday that Labadie was found guilty of the charge at a hearing of an independent panel.
