Takashi “Tak” Miki, 89, of Pahala died Nov. 21 at the Hale Anuenue Restorative Care Center. Born in Kawainui, he was a retired warehouse floorman for the former Ka‘u Sugar Co. and member of the Pahala Hongwanji Mission. Private services held. Survived by wife, Lillian “Lilly” Miki of Pahala; brothers, Tadashi (Asako) Miki of Honolulu, Ernest (Kay) Miki of Honolulu and Lawrence Miki of Hilo; sisters, Sadame Ota of Pahala, Tsukimi (Mitsuo) Murashige of Hilo, Michie Kuwaye of Hilo and Carol (Donald) Fujii of Wailuku, Maui; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Rick Clayton Brown, 50, Kailua-Kona died Nov. 22 at Kona Community Hospital. Born in Burbank, Calif., he was a finish carpenter, former drummer for Crystal Image and an artist. Friends may call at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Dec. 16, at Mokuaikaua Church in Kailua-Kona for a 12:30 p.m. memorial service. Casual attire. Survived by wife, Emi Brown of Kailua-Kona; mother, Judy (Richard) Harrison of Kailua-Kona; brothers, Scott (Diane) Brown of Ramona, Calif., Ronald Brown of Henderson, Nev., and Michael Brown of Brigantine, N.J.; sister, Shari (Scott) Lindenberg of Kailua-Kona; numerous nieces and nephews. Alfred Berdon, 84, of Kamuela died Nov. 14 at home. Born in North Kohala, he was a retired boat builder. Funeral services Friday, Dec. 13, at his residence (64-1040 Hi‘iaka Street Kamuela, Hi 96743). Visitation at 3 p.m. Service at 5:30 p.m. A second funeral service will be held on Saturday, Dec. 14, at the St. James Episcopal Church. Visitation at 8 a.m. Service at 10:30 a.m. Survived by wife, Bernice Berdon of Kamuela; son, Alfred (Rochelle) Berdon Jr. of Kamuela; daughters, Leo Akau of Kamuela, Valerie Berdon of Kohala, Charmaine Phillips of Kamuela and Corinne (Matthew) Weller of Kamuela; brothers, George (Sonja) Berdon of Ocean View, Ronald (Emma) Berdon of Kona and Kenneth (Leah) Demaya of Kamuela; sisters, Helen Kauhi of Hilo, Lorraine Kaono of Kamuela, Rose (Edward) Spencer of Kamuela and Leonora (Thomas) Wright of Arizona; 17 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
