Fukumoto to lead Republican effort

HONOLULU (AP) — Hawaii state Rep. Beth Fukumoto was selected as a future leader by the Republican State Leadership Committee.

Fukumoto will serve as a board member of that committee’s project called the Future Majority Caucus. The group said Wednesday its goal is to diversify and grow the Republican Party by helping Republicans win state-level seats.

Fukumoto said she’s honored to join the group and help steer the Republican Party in a direction that reflects the nation’s changing demographics.
