Man dies in Kauai traffic crash
HONOLULU (AP) — Honolulu authorities say a man died after his vehicle veered off the roadway in Kauai, struck a tree and fell down an embankment.
A motorcyclist in the area said he heard cries for help coming from the embankment at about 8:30 a.m. Sunday.
According to authorities, the motorcyclist went to check and found the driver, who told him he had been stuck in his vehicle for several hours.
Authorities say the motorcyclist went to get cell phone reception to call for help. He called out to the man when he returned, but got no response.
Firefighters responding to the scene rappelled down the embankment and found that the driver of the crashed vehicle had died.
The name of the crash victim was not immediately available.
