HONOLULU (AP) — A new law gives the state’s public schools flexibility to create schedules based on the amount of days and hours required for a school year.
The union representing the state’s public school teachers says Gov. David Ige signed the bill Thursday.
The law requires all public schools to implement a school year of 180 days. Schools will be required to have 990 student hours in the upcoming school year and 1,080 hours in the following two school years. Charter schools and multi-track public schools are excluded.
