The state Department of Transportation is anticipating work on the “Singing Bridge” will continue until the end of January.
Traffic on the Hilo bridge over the Wailuku River has been reduced to one lane during morning commutes as a result of the project. It began Sept. 3
The project started initially to replace wooden sidewalk planks and was later expanded to include painting of curbs and steel railings and replacing “steel support members” underneath, according to the DOT.
Previously, it was anticipated to be complete Nov. 29.
