Shon Micheal Kawika “Goose” Luta, 36, of Ocean View died April 4 at Kona Community Hospital. Born in Kealakekua, he was a painter for WE Painting Company and a member of the painter’s union. Private services held. Celebration of life at later date. Survived by wife, Jody Luta of Ocean View; daughters, Tyra (Dylan DePriest-Tag) Jones, Tia Jones and Tory Jones, each of Kailua-Kona, and Tayler Libarios of Ocean View; son, Tyler Libarios of Ocean View; parents, Charles and Irene Luta of Ocean View; brothers, Charles (joy) Luta, Jr., of Waimea, Preston (Davelyn) Luta of Kalaoa, Bryson (Danielle) Luta of Ocean View and Braxton (Kanoe) Luta of Ocean View; god parents, Andy and Alice Quanan of Waimea; one grandson; numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. Laka Morton, 67, of Volcano died March 22 at Hilo Medical Center. Born in Honolulu, he was a renowned artist, historian and Hawaiian rights activist. Celebration of life to be held. Survived by hanai sister, Leonelle Anderson Akana and many loved ones. Arrangements by Borthwick Hawaii Funeral Home.
Rachel “Barbara,” “Bobbi,” “Liko” Susan McDonagh, 63, of Captain Cook died March 30 at home. Born in Manhattan, New York, she was an elementary teacher in Naalehu and published two children’s books. Celebration of life held. A donation may be made in her name to Hawaii Community Foundation for the Stein Family Scholarship fund. Survived by cousins, Mark Goldberg of Coral Springs, Fla., Joanie Levine of New York and Martin of New York; numerous friends. Arrangements by A Hui Hou Crematory &Funeral Home of West Hawaii.
