Russell Araujo Sr., 68, of Hilo, died March 31 at the Hospice of Hilo Pohai Malama Facility. Born in Olaa, he was a retired technician with Hawaiian Telephone/Verizon and the former owner of Kamaaina Home Screens. Private services held. Survived by wife, Joanne Araujo of Hilo; sons, Russell (Candice) Araujo Jr. of Las Vegas and Shon Araujo of Hilo; step-daughter, Tracey (Shaye) Miura of Hilo; sisters, Sylvia Lindinha of Hilo and Marilyn Hall of Vancouver, Wash.; grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Jan Booth Campbell, 81, of Volcano, died April 9 at home. Born in Defiance, Ohio, he was a retired special education teacher and school administrator, a pioneer hang glider and a U.S. Navy veteran of the Korean War. Private services at a later date. Rose Marie Ferreira, 81, of Pahoa, died March 29 at Hilo Medical Center. Born in Waipahu, Oahu, she was a homemaker and member of the Paradise Park Christian Congregation of Jehovah Witnesses in Keaau. Debra G. Guiteras, 63, of Papaikou, died April 8 at the Hospice of Hilo Pohai Malama Care Center. Born in Morton Camp, Papaikou, she was a teacher’s aide at Kapiolani and Laupahoehoe schools, and retired from Waiakea High School. She was a former 4-H and Brownie leader, former pitcher for the Papaikou Babes softball team and expert lei maker. Visitation 6-9 p.m. Wednesday (April 26) at Dodo Mortuary Chapel in Hilo. Funeral service at 7 p.m. Graveside committal service and burial 12 p.m. Thursday (April 27) at Hawaii Veterans Cemetery No. 2. Casual attire; flowers welcome. George Albert “Spida” Silva, Jr., 89, of Pahala, died April 6 at Ka‘u Hospital. Born in Pahala, he was a retired seed treating plant operator for Ka‘u Agribusiness Company, a volunteer fire chief of 11 Delta Company in Pahala and a member of the Pahala Holy Rosary Catholic Church and the Pahala International Longshoreman’s Worker Union Pension Club. Friends may call 8-10 a.m. Saturday (April 22) at Pahala Holy Catholic Church. Celebration of mass at 10 a.m. Casual attire; flowers welcome. Burial at Pahala Church Cemetery. Corazon Guzon Valera, 97, of Honokaa, died April 2 at home. Born in Dingras, Ilocos Norte, the Philippines, she was a homemaker and a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Honokaa. Visitation from 5-8 p.m. Friday (April 21) at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church. Visitation continues 9- 11 a.m. Saturday (April 22) at the church. Funeral mass at 11 a.m. Burial to follow at the church cemetery. Casual attire.
