Bruce Edward Bowen, 50 of Greenville, Ill., died March 7 in St. Louis. Born in Washington, D.C., he was a member of Critical Care Transport Team at St. Louis Children’s Hospital and graduated from Hilo High School. Memorial service at 4 p.m. Wednesday at Malia Puka O Kalani Church, 326 Desha Ave., Hilo. Visitation at 3 p.m. Survived by parents, John and Anne Bowen of Hilo; wife, Christine Bowen of Illinois; sons, Jace and Corey of Illinois; daughter, Lauren of Illinois; sisters, Maureen Figueira and Denise Marjarum of Pennsylvania; one grandson.
Alice Tachera-Larimer is also survived by brother, William Lawrence. His name was omitted in an obit published Wednesday.
Burton Ryan Salas, 24, of Wailuku, Maui, died April 9. Born in Hilo, he was a Maui Community Correctional Center adult corrections officer. Memorial service at 5:30 p.m. Friday at Valley Isle Fellowship Sanctuary, 473 High St., Wailuku. Visitation at 4 p.m. Celebration of life in Hilo at later date. For questions, contact family in Hilo. Rita Helen Sarme, 74, of Papaikou died Saturday at Hospice of Hilo Pohai Malama Facility. Born in Hilo, she was a homemaker, U.S. Army, Women’s Army Corps veteran, member of the Papaikou Babes Softball team and volunteer at Kalanianaole School Library.
