Mariko K. Hong, 94, of Issaquah, Wash., formerly of Hilo, died March 28 at Aegis Living of Issaquah. Born in Honolulu, she was a retired substitute teacher, volunteer at East Hawaii Cultural Center and an ESL tutor for adult education programs. Private services held. Manuel Garcia Shaw Pineo, 37, of Captain Cook, died April 6 in Kealakekua. Born in Stoughton, Mass., he was a gardener and landscaper. Survived by mother, Maria Vidito of Captain Cook and maternal grandmother Margarita Porter of Rochester, Wash. Memorial services will be announced at a later date.
