Herminigildo “Herman” “Undong” “Papa” Almazan, 89, of Keaau died March 26 at home. Born in 8 1/2-Mile Camp in Keaau, he was a retired harvesting crane and tractor operator for the former Puna Sugar Co. and shoreline fisherman. Visitation 10-11 a.m. Tuesday (April 11) at Dodo Mortuary Chapel. Memorial service at 11 a.m. Aloha attire; no flowers. Survived by wife, Cecilia Gangano Almazan of Keaau; daughters, Marisha (Mat) Cole, Anna (Derek Otomo) Almazan, Cynthia Almazan and Hercelia (Joray) Kaua of Keaau, Sabrina (Tom Fitzsimons) of San Leandro, Calif.; sister, Margarita Jaravata of the Philippines; 13 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews. Caridad T. Era, 95, of Kealakekua died March 1 at Life Care Center of Kona. Born in Washington, D.C., she was a homemaker. Services held. Survived by daughters, Carrie (Kuan) Era of Seattle, Christian Era of Florida and Bethel (William) Stevens of Waikoloa; son, Alex Era of Seattle; sisters, Angela Punasalan of Singapore and Luzvismin Sibal of Seattle; 12 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews and cousins. Kenneth Ray Hua, 54, of Hilo died March 25 at home. Born in Tacoma, Wash., he was an accountant and auto mechanic. Visitation 9:30-10:30 a.m. Friday, April 14, at Dodo Mortuary Chapel. Anna “Annie” Kahue Napihaa, 100, died March 26 at Hilo Medical Center. Born in Hana, Maui, she was a member of Malia Puka O Kalani and St. Joseph Catholic churches, Mikioi Club, Alu Like Kupuna Program, volunteer at Pomaikai Senior Center and ship’s greeter for the County RSVP. Visitation 9-10 a.m. Wednesday (April 12) at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Funeral Mass at 10 a.m. Burial to follow at Alae Cemetery, Section C. Casual attire. Survived by sons, Anthony (Paula Ann) Napihaa of Hilo, Roland Napihaa of California and Everette Napihaa of Hilo; daughters, Patricia Napihaa and Hazel Miller of Pahoa, Margaret (Rick Sanico Jr.) Moore of Honolulu and Mary (Joe Jr.) Farias of Hilo; 12 grandchildren plus great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews. Rehino Remiticado, 85, of Hilo died March 11 at Yukio Okutsu State Veterans Home. Born in Puunene, Maui, he was a pastor, worked on Kwajalein and was a U.S. Army veteran. Graveside service 10:30 a.m. Thursday (April 13) at Lanai Veterans Cemetery. Koji Shintani, 83, of Hilo died March 26 at Yukio Okutsu State Veterans Home. Born in Hilo, he was the owner of Koji’s Bento Korner and a member of Hilo Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses. Survived by daughters, Karen Murakami, Sandra Wilson and Robyn (Bruce) Oda; son, Drew Shintani; brother, Futoshi Shintani; sister, Eko Hasegawa; two grandchildren; nieces, nephews and cousins. Kenneth Hee Than Woo, 98, of Hawaiian Paradise Park, Keaau, died March 31 in Hawaii Kai, Honolulu. He was born in Honolulu. Visitation 11-11:30 a.m. Friday, May 5, at Ballard Family Mortuary.
