Earl Michael Duarte, 65, of Hilo died July 18 at Hospice of Hilo Pohai Malama Facility. Born in Honolulu, he was a security guard and U.S. Army Vietnam War veteran. Urn committal on Oahu at a later date. Survived by daughters, Michelle Duarte of Keaau, Rochelle (Gregory) Wagner of Hilo and Earllyn (Renfred) Jardine of Kurtistown; sisters, Gwendolyn Hensley of Texas and Penny Geter of New Jersey; three grandchildren; nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. Federico Salvador Rivera, 69, of Kapaau died Aug. 1 at home. Born in Nueva Ecija, Philippines, he was a paniolo and retired ranch maintenance man for Boteilho Enterprises. Visitation 8-10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 30, at Sacred Hearts Catholic Church in Hawi. Mass at 10 a.m. Burial at Valley of the Temples in Kaneohe, Oahu. Casual attire. Jean Spear Stene, 83, of Keauhou and San Diego died Aug. 7. Born in Thomaston, Maine, she was a lawyer and U.S. Navy veteran. Private services. Evangeline Utrera, 50, of Kailua-Kona died July 22 at home. Born in Naravacan, Ilocos Sur, Philippines, she was a stock clerk at Walmart and member of the Catholic Church. Visitation 6-9 p.m. Friday, Aug. 29, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Holualoa for a wake service. Visitation again 8-10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 30, at the church. Mass at 10 a.m. Burial at Kona Memorial Park. Casual attire.
