Donovan Kent “Duke” Cooper, 68, of Kahului, Maui, and formerly of Hilo, died June 16 at home. Born in San Francisco, he operated Helani Gardens Nursery in Hana, Maui. Interment at noon Monday, Jan. 27, at Hilo Veteran’s Cemetery No. 2, Column Burium section. Survived by wife, Theresa (Farias) Cooper of Maui; son, Matthew (Suzanne) Cooper of Maui; daughter, Sarah Cooper of Bend, Ore.; brother, Chris (Margie) Cooper of Hilo; sisters, Donna (Joe) Caimi and Ann (Stefan) Uyehara, both of Maui; mother-in-law, Frances Farias of Hilo; brothers-in-law, Joseph (Chantal) Farias of Tennessee and Patrick Farias of Hilo; sister-in-law, Carol Farias of Hilo; and one grandson.

Richard “Lefty” “Haole” Mark Totman, 78, died Jan. 19 at his home in Ainaloa. Born in Benton, Maine, he was a retired Honolulu City and County refuse truck driver, former commander of VFW Post 3830 Nanawale, a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and U.S. Marine Corps Reserve, and member of Pahoa Sacred Heart Parish and Pahoa Senior Club. Friends may call at 11 a.m. Friday for a memorial service at the VFW Post 3830, 15-775 Maluhia Road, Nanawale Subdivision in Pahoa. For service information call Jan Kama at 808-965-6671. Additional services on Oahu and inurnment at the Hawaii State Veterans Cemetery will be held at a later date. Casual attire.
