Born in Hilo, she was a retired freight clerk for Young Brothers and member of Hilo Hooganji Mission, Hilo Bon Dance Club, Tsukikage Odorikai and Hilo Chinese Cemetery Association. Services held. William Kaohu Kahakua Sr., 89, of Mountain View died June 10. He was born in Ka‘u. Visitation 9-11 a.m. Thursday (June 22) at St. Theresa Catholic Church, 18-1355 Volcano Highway, Mountain View. Fumikichi “Kichi” Matsuoka, 93, of Kailua-Kona died June 2 at Kona Community Hospital. Born in Honalo, he was a retired maintenance worker for the former Kona Hilton Resort, a carpenter and a U.S. Army World War II veteran of the 442 Regimental Combat Team.
