Mary Kathleen Aplaca, 58, of Waialua died June 16 in Hilo. Born in Omaha, Nebraska. Services to be held at noon July 12 at Alii Beach Park in Haleiwa, with pupu potluck to follow. Survived by sons, Bradley Aplaca of Waialua, Chadwick Aplaca of Waialua, Damon Aplaca of Killeen, Texas; brothers, Bill (Vivian) Jacobsen of Omaha, Nebraska, Paul (Lena) Petschow of Haleiwa, Phillip (Anna) Petschow of Oxnard, Calif.; sisters, Dianna (Daniel) Preister of Omaha, Nebraska, Susan (Bill) Foster of Kent, Washington, Pamela (Rocky) Rivera of Waialua; three grandchildren, 28 nieces and nephews and the O’Brien cousins. Charles “Charlie” E. Huston Jr., 72, of Keaau died June 22 at Hilo Medical Center. Born in Ola’a, he was the owner and operator of Charlie’s Water Hauling, retired from the State Department of Transportation Highways Division and a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Keaau. Friends may call from 5-8 p.m. Tuesday at Dodo Mortuary chapel in Hilo; Wake service at 6:30 p.m. Friends may again call from 8-9:30 a.m. Wednesday at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Keaau; Funeral Mass at 9:30 a.m. Burial to follow at Homelani Memorial Park Lehua Section. Casual attire. Survived by wife, Gwen Huston of Keaau; sons, Dean Huston of Keaau, Darrell (Marilou) Huston of Hilo, Charles K. Huston of Keaau; daughter, Denise Gaylord of Mountain View; brother, Thomas (Annie) Campbell of Ainaloa; sisters, Arleta Smith of Kentucky, Rachel (Ken) McKenzie of Kansas; sister-in-law, Shirley (Rupert) Tripp of Hilo; brothers-in-law, Albert (Marie) Kelson, William “Ungie” (Faith) Chu, Ronald “Singie” Chu, all of Hilo, Randolph “Fookie” Chu of Argentina; six grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews. Gene Allan Young, 83, of Kailua-Kona died June 15 at his residence. Born in Glendale, California, he was a retired machine shop business owner and a Navy veteran. Private service held. Survived by wife, Jeannine Young of Kailua-Kona; daughters, Chris Young of Napa, California, Robin Young of Missoula, Montana; grandson, Jessie Cunningham of Missoula, Montana. Arrangements by Cremation Services of West Hawaii.

Manuel Yona Kaapana Jr.’s obituary in the Tuesday, June 24, edition gave an incorrect day of death. Kaapana died Friday, June 20.
