Wendy Lou Fountain, 55, of Keaau died Sept. 1 at home. Born in Massena, N.Y., she was an art teacher for Keaau High School and Seton Catholic High School, Plattsburgh, N.Y., U.S. Army veteran and member of Church of the Holy Apostles, Hilo, and Christ and St. John’s Episcopal Church, Champlain, N.Y. Memorial service with Eucharist 11 a.m. Saturday (Sept. 16) at Church of The Holy Apostles, 1407 Kapiolani St. Casual attire. Survived by husband, Rob Fountain Jr.; children, Ian Fountain, Erin Busch and Elizabeth (Peter) Warneck; mother, Catherine Simms; brothers, Jerry Simms, Warren Simms, Joseph (Helen) Simms and Craig O’Gallagher; sisters, Kathy (Bill) Henry and Karen Schmidt; two grandchildren; nieces, nephews and cousins. Haroleen Puena Makuakane, 64, of Hilo died Aug. 22 at Hilo Medical Center. Born in Keaukaha, she was a homemaker, former bus driver for Laupahoehoe Transportation Co. and Hele-On and former member of Hawaiian Bowling Club. Visitation 9-10 a.m. Friday (Sept. 15) at Dodo Mortuary Chapel. Funeral service at 10 a.m. Burial to follow at Alae Cemetery. Casual attire. Survived by, son, Douglas Vallente Jr. of Hilo; daughter, Jane Makuakane of Hilo; sisters, Adeline Makuakane, Margie (Gerald) Abiley, Millicent (Herbert) Riedel-Majamay, Cindy Wilson and Robyn (Greer) Riedel of Hilo; nieces, nephews, and cousins. Yiuzo Nii, 95, of Hilo died Aug. 17 at Leahi Hospital in Honolulu. Born in Papaikou, he was a retired state bridge maintenance worker. Donald Patrick Swain, 65, of Hilo died Aug. 27 at Hale Anuenue Restorative Care Center. Born in Hilo, he was a member of Malia Puka O Kalani Catholic Church. Visitation from 8-10 a.m. Friday (Sept. 15) at Malia Puka O Kalani Catholic Church in Keaukaha. Funeral Mass at 10:30 a.m. Burial to follow at Hawaii Veterans Cemetery No. 2. Casual attire. Robert Dominador Visaya, 76, of Hilo died Aug. 16 at Legacy Hilo Rehabilitation and Nursing Center. Born in Kukuihaele, he was a retired tile setter for the former RV Ceramic Tile Contracting and member of New Hope-Hilo and Hawaii Ballroom Dance Association. Visitation 4-5 p.m. Saturday (Sept. 16) at Dodo Mortuary Chapel. Memorial service at 5 p.m. Casual attire; no flowers. Toshiko Yamaguchi, 89, of Hilo died July 29 at Yukio Okutsu State Veterans Home. Born in Tokyo, she was a homemaker. Private services held. No koden (monetary gifts). Survived by daughters, Shirley (Hiroshi) Horii of Sendai, Japan, and Colleen (Kurt) Alicuben of Hilo; son, Thomas (Jezamine) Yamaguchi of Porterville, Calif.; brother, Teruo (Yoko) Hatori of Japan; five grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
