Tanaka, Grace Bros., Goodfellows, Fong, and Volcanite construction companies, member of the Operator Engineers Union Local 3, Visayan Club, Na Kupuna O West Hawaii, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Kona Ward, and a National Guard veteran. Visitation 7 a.m. Saturday at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Kona Ward. Funeral service at a 10 a.m. Burial to follow at West Hawaii Veterans Cemetery.     Frank Rivera Caravalho Sr., 94, of Kapaau died Aug. 20 at home. Born in Halaula, he worked for Kohala Sugar Plantation and was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and former member of Kohala Senior Citizens softball team and played in the 80-and-over Senior Citizens Softball World Series.     James "Jim" Lee Ater, 83, of Hilo died Thursday, Aug. 16, at Yukio Okutsu State Veterans Home. Born in Oberlin, Kansas, he was a retired Marine Electrician for Kems Inc. on Oahu; a U.S. Navy veteran during the Korean Conflict; and made koa wood crafts. He was also a member of AFL-CIO IBEW Local Union 1186 and the NEBF. Private services held. Survived by wife, Judith Flores Ater of Hilo; daughters, Jamie S.
