EXHIBITION

Where: Waimea Community Center, Rt. 19, next to Waimea Park

Details: More than 50 bonsai will be showcased by the club, which has been holding meetings for more than 50 years. No admission fee. Come talk story and view the bonsai. The show is open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, May 26-27

VAC Youth Art
Festival

Where: Volcano Art Center Niaulani Campus

Details: Free family event begins with Japanese taiko drumming performance and instruction. Children of all ages will get hands-on arts instruction in movement (hip hop, hula and qigong), a musical instrument, petting zoo and drawing and painting. 2 p.m. free concert by Brittni Paiva; 3:30 p.m. youth poetry open mic. Broken Trust

‘Pelagic Magic’ Film Screening

Details: Filmed entirely off the Kona coast by local underwater cameraman Matthew D’Avella, “Pelagic Magic” is about deepwater gelatinous animals and includes footage taken 30 feet below the ocean surface, in water more than a mile deep.  $3; Members free.
