Where: VAC Gallery, HVNP 

When: 10:30 a.m. June 30 

Details: Hula kahiko informance with kumu Leilehua Yuen and Manu Josiah. A 50-minute narrated demonstration of the preparation, protocol and offering of traditional hula and chant at the hula platform near the Volcano Art Center Gallery. Hands-on cultural demonstration from 9:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. on gallery porch.

Where: Panaewa Rainforest Zoo & Gardens, Hilo

Details: Tiger feeding at 3:30 p.m. daily. Saturday’s Petting Zoo is 1:30-2:30 p.m. Free.

GARDEN TOUR IN CAPTAIN COOK 

Where: Captain Cook 

When: 8:30 a.m.-5 p.m. Mondays-Saturdays 

Details: Amy Greenwell Ethnobotanical Garden showcases plants of Hawaii. $4 entry. Free tour at 10 a.m. the second Saturday. $5 tours at 1 p.m. Wednesdays, Fridays.

NIAULANI NATURE WALK 

Where: VAC Niaulani Campus 

When: 9:30-10:30 a.m. Mondays, 11 a.m.-noon, Saturdays 

Details: Free guided tour through old-growth Hawaiian rain forest; easy, 1/7-mile loop trail. Learn about native plants, birds, ecological and geological features, cultural usage of flora and fauna.
