KAIPALAOA PARK CLEANUP 

Where: Kaipalaoa Park, Hilo 

When: 8 a.m. Dec. 2 

Details: Come join the Kaipalaoa surf crew for the monthly cleanup of Hilo’s smallest community ocean park at the gateway to Hilo town. Park at Koehnen’s and walk to the lighthouse on the water across Highway 19.

ZOO CHRISTMAS ALOHA 

Where: Pana‘ewa Rainforest Zoo 

When: 9 a.m. Dec. 8 

Details: Join the Friends of the Zoo Animal Enrichment Team in giving Christmas presents to all of the animals. Bring your cameras and meet at the Primadome at 9 a.m. Help zoo volunteers spread Christmas aloha to feathered and furry friends.

WAIMEA WREATH MAKING 

Where: Waimea Nature Park, behind Canada France Hawaii Telescope 

When: 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Dec. 8 

Details: Waimea Outdoor Circle’s Holiday Wreath making class. Take home a beautiful wreath made with local and native plant material. All instructions and supplies included. Cost: $30 for a small wreath, $40 for large. Call to sign up or for more info.
