NIAULANI NATURE WALK IN VOLCANO VILLAGE 

Where: VAC Niaulani Campus 

When: 11 a.m. Dec. 29 

Details: Niaulani Nature Walk — Free Guided Rain Forest Tour in Volcano. This one-hour nature walk travels through a lush portion of an old-growth Hawaiian rain forest on an easy, short loop trail. The walk introduces individuals, families, and groups to the native plants and birds of Volcano. Guides focus not only on the biological, ecological, and geological features of the area, but also the cultural usages of flora and fauna by native Hawaiians. Offered every Monday at 9:30 a.m. and Saturday at 11 a.m. Free; donations welcome. Call 967-8222 for more information.

JOIN IN THE BIG DOG’S RESOLUTION RUN/WALK

WALKING IN THE WILD MEDITATION 

Where: ‘Iole, historic Bond Homestead, Kapaau

Details: Gavin Harrison leads easy, silent hike on first Saturday of each month. Meditation concludes with a few minutes of silence together followed by refreshments. Suggested donation: $10-$15.
