ANNUAL PURPLE UP! DAY 

Where: Statewide 

When: Noon April 15 

Details: Army Reserve 9th MSC Child Youth & School Services, military partners and community partners invite everyone to wear purple on Monday, April 15. Purple symbolizes all branches of the military. Purple Up! acts as a visible way to show support and thank military youth for their strength and sacrifices. Everyone invited to celebrate these young heroes.

OCEAN DAY HAWAII MALAMA KANALOA FESTIVAL 

Where: Hilo Bayfront Beach

Details: Sixth annual UH-Hilo Ocean Day Hawaii Malama Kanaloa Festival. Interactive displays, activities, booths; fishing games, marine critter touch tanks, mask/puppet making, marine-life block-printing, makahiki games, face painting, poi-pounding, seed planting; Kainani Kahaunaele, Lono Kanaka‘ole Trio and Ka ‘Umeke Kaeo. DIVE IN FOR EARTH DAY AT

15TH ANNUAL PLANT SALE AT PANAEWA RAINFOREST ZOO 

Where: Entrance circle to Panaewa Rainforest Zoo and Equestrian Center, above Highway 11, Hilo 

When: 8 a.m. May 5 

Details: Friends of the Zoo presents 15th annual plant sale just in time for Mother’s Day. Varieties including Vireya, Bamboo, Palms, Fruit trees, Water Garden plants and Orchids will be available from 8 a.m. until 2 p.m. Also, Master Gardeners will have fruit fly traps and Friends of the Zoo will have coffee and donuts for sale. No admission fee.
