Details: Directed by Malik Bendjelloul. Rodriguez, the ’70s rock icon who never was. Rodriguez is discovered in a Detroit bar in the late ’60s by producers. His album bombs and he disappears. A bootleg recording lands in apartheid South Africa, where he becomes a phenomenon. In the film, two South African fans set off to find their hero.
