FRIENDS OF THE HILO PUBLIC LIBRARY FALL BOOK SALE 

Where: Hilo Public Library 

When: 9 a.m. Thursday-Saturday, Oct. 18-20 

Details: Volunteers with the Friends of the Library offer gently used books, DVDs, puzzles, CDs and magazines at bargain prices: 50 cents to $1. Stop by and browse Thursday, Friday, Saturday. Sneak peek 5 p.m. Wednesday for members. Join at door and become an “instant Friend.” Prices reduced even further toward end of sale.

DOMESTIC VIOLENCE PEACE WALK AND VIGIL 

Where: Aupuni Center, Hilo 

When: 4:15 p.m. Friday, Oct. 19 

Details: Family Peace Walk and Vigil starts from makai soccer field parking lot on Hilo Bayfront at 4:15 p.m., ending at Aupuni Center, for Domestic Violence Vigil at 5:15 p.m. Program includes lighting of candles, purple ribbon awards. Sponsored by Hawaii County Family Violence Interagency Committee.
