Details: “Introduction to Hydroponics,” a free class open to the community. Funded by Hawaii Island United Way. Instructor is Cody Hyatt of Ohana Greenhouse and Garden.

DIABETES & KIDNEY DISEASE FAIR 

Where: Church on a Sure Foundation, Prince Kuhio Plaza across from IHOP 

When: 11 a.m. Nov. 10 

Details: Free health fair featuring screenings and exit consultation. Screenings include: cholesterol/glucose, urinalysis, BMI, blood pressure, foot checks, stroke risk assessment and vision. For all 18 years and older. Fasting is optional but recommended for more accurate test results (eight-hour minimum). VETERAN’S DAY PARADE 

Where: By Kamehameha statue, Hilo 

When: 9 a.m. Nov. 10 

Details: Veterans assemble at 7:30 a.m. at the statue in Class B uniform to decorate parade vehicle. All invited. Hosted by Korean vets.
