’TIS THE SEASON — The Lehua Jaycees members invite the community to their 27th annual Downtown Hilo Christmas Parade, which gets under way at 5:30 p.m. today. Folks of all ages will enjoy colorful wintery floats, marching units, bands and, of course, Santa Claus in his first major appearance of the season. SASANA: THE BURMA PORTFOLIO 

Where: Lyman Museum, Hilo 

When: Through Jan. 12 

Details: Journey deep into Burma and experience a Buddhist culture rich in tradition and history. The special exhibit Sasana (acts of kindness) is a collection of large-format black and white photographs taken between 2006-2011 by Dr. Steven Garon, a volunteer with Aloha Medical Mission.
