‘Safe place’ for seniors in Honomu
Hawaii Island Adult Care Inc. (HIAC) officials announce the creation of the nonprofit’s newest center, the Honomu Adult Day Center.
“We are now offering our Hilo/Hamakua Coast seniors a safe, active and fun environment filled with daily activities that include everything from arts and crafts to exercise and gardening,” said HIAC spokeswoman Elizabeth Logsdon.
“Our center is located on the serene, ocean-view grounds of The Hilo Coast United Church of Christ in Honomu. With more than 35 years of expertise, HIAC’s newest center is geared to benefit the individual needs of our participants as well as to provide caregivers with the support they need.”
To celebrate the new center, the HIAC ohana invites the public to an open house and participant art show, with complimentary refreshments, from 4 to 7 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 16, at the Hilo Coast UCC at 28-1630 Old Mamalahoa Highway in Honomu.
For more information regarding this event, or the Adult Day Center programs in Hilo and Honomu, please contact HIAC at 961-3737, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.
