Abstract Only, the fourth in a series of biennial juried exhibits, starts Friday with an opening reception at 5 p.m. for the 53 artists who had 89 abstract works of art accepted into the show at Wailoa Art & Cultural Center. Announcement of the winners and an awards presentation will begin at 5:30 p.m.
Entertainment will be provided by the Sunset Grove Machine, a trio of musicians whose spokesman is Jean Pierre Thoma, who plays the flute and saxophone. Potluck refreshments will be served. This is a great chance to meet the artists and the juror, Kevin Diminyatz, who will also have some of his abstract artwork on display around Wailoa’s center fountain.
Wailoa A&C Center is under the Division of State Parks, Department of Land and Natural Resources. It is free and opened to the public Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m., Wednesday from 12-4:30 p.m. The center is closed on Saturdays, Sundays and state holidays.
