Blood drives set for March
The Blood Bank of Hawaii will be holding a series of blood drives in March around the island in an effort to build up supplies at the island’s hospitals.
The following are blood drives scheduled on the Big Island in March. Drives are subject to change. Call 1-800-372-9966 to schedule an appointment or check on drive information.
West-side drives will be held:
l Wednesday, March 6: Church of Latter-day Saints, Kona Hawaii Stake, Cultural Hall, 10:15 a.m.-5:15 p.m.,
l Thursday, March 7: Church of Latter-day Saints, Waimea Hawaii Ward, Cultural Hall, 9 a.m.-4:30 p.m.,
l Friday, March 8: Konawaena High School, Band Room, 6:45 a.m.-1:45 p.m.
East-side drives will be held:
l Monday, March 25: Kamehameha Schools Hawaii, 16-716 Volcano Road, WCL Multi-purpose Room, 8:45 a.m.-3:45 p.m.,
l Tuesday, March 26: Honpa Hongwanji Hilo Betsuin, Sangha Hall, 7:30 a.m.-3:15 p.m.,
l Wednesday, March 27: Hui Okinawa, Sangha Hall, 9:30 a.m.-5:15 p.m.,
l Thursday, March 28: Waiakea High School, library, 7:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m.
The requirements to be a blood donor are:
l Be in good health,
l Be 18 years of age or older (17 with signed Blood Bank of Hawaii parent/legal guardian consent form),
l Weigh 110 pounds or more,
l Bring a valid photo ID with date of birth.
