Christmas Craft ‘EG’stravaganza marks 25th year
Evelyn Garbo will host the Silver Anniversary Edition of the Christmas Craft “EG”stravaganza on Friday night, Nov. 16, and Saturday, Nov. 17, at the Edith Kanaka‘ole Multipurpose Stadium in Hilo.
The historic craft fair features crafts from throughout the state of Hawaii and California, ono food, festive music, fun games and more than $2,000 in handcrafted door prizes.
“There promises to be great shopping, food and tons of fun at this year’s special holiday celebration,” Garbo said. Fair hours are Friday, 5 to 10 p.m., and Saturday, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. There is a $2 admission charge for those 12 years and over, but the last hour before closing each day will be free for last-minute purchases and pick-ups.
“And, as a 25th anniversary gift to early shoppers, the first 25 customers each day will receive free admission to the show,” Garbo said. For more information, call EGplants at 959-7389.
The EGstravaganza boasts more than 100 different artisans from all corners of the Big Island, more than 30 crafters from throughout the state, a few special crafters from California and, this year, even one from Japan.
“We bring the best crafters from throughout the state right to your back yard. No need to take an expensive shopping trip off-island: You can enjoy great bargains direct from the artists themselves, in a relaxed and fun Hilo setting,” Garbo said. “Over the years, the EGstravaganza has become not just a craft fair, but a time to happily bump into and visit with old friends and family just before the frenzy of the holidays.”
More than $2,000 of unique handcrafted door prizes will be given away throughout the two days of the “EG”stravaganza. Trivia buffs will enjoy the myriad of trivia questions and returning shoppers have a chance to be a Mystery Shopper.
The Christmas Scavenger “EG”spedition is fun for the whole family and benefits the entire community. Throughout the show, participating vendors will display edible Scavenger items, which will be donated to the Food Basket directly after the show.
Garbo promises many surprises and treats relating to the number 25. She invites everyone to join the fun and remain alert for the special number throughout the show.
