Have breakfast with the Clauses
St. Joseph School will host a special event — Santa Story Time Breakfast — on Saturday, Dec. 8.
“The community is invited to attend a pancake breakfast with two very special guests, Santa and Mrs. Claus,” said spokeswoman Teresa Fuata. “Enjoy a fun, festive morning as Santa reads stories to the children, shop at our Scholastic Book Fair for great Christmas gifts and enjoy a delicious breakfast of fresh pancakes, sausage, juice and coffee.
The event will be held in the St. Joseph School Cafeteria from 7 to 11 a.m., with meal service beginning at 7:30 a.m. Tickets are $6 in advance and $7 at the door. For ticket information, please call 935-4935.
The Santa Breakfast will wrap up a weeklong Scholastic Book Fair, which will offer great gift giving ideas in specially priced books and educational products, including children’s classics, award-winning titles, new releases, interactive software, adult bestsellers, and other great reads from more than 100 publishers.
The community is welcome to stop by Monday through Friday. Please sign in first, however, at the elementary office.
Know a special St. Joseph grad?
Monday, Dec. 3, is the nomination deadline for the annual St. Joseph School awards for outstanding alumni who have distinguished themselves as leaders in their respective fields in the community.
This recognition will occur at the annual Cardinal Ball on Sunday, Feb. 10, in the ‘Imiloa Astronomy Center Moanahoku Hall in Hilo.
Coordinators are looking for SJS graduates who have performed well in leadership and/or service roles in education, community organizations, athletics, administration, government, visual and performing arts, business, church and other appropriate areas, said school spokesman Bill Loewenstein.
Please provide a letter nominating the person, mentioning examples of distinguished leadership or service, a current resume or list of leadership/service roles and the length of time in these roles. Please send the nomination package to: St. Joseph School, 2013 Outstanding Alumni Leadership Awards, 1000 Ululani St., Hilo, HI 96720-3999.
