The annual Hilo Shopping Center Kamaaina Craft Fair will open at 9 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 6, and run through Saturday, Dec. 8.
“Again this year, we will have local crafters both inside the air-conditioned mall and outside on the covered sidewalk,” said fair coordinator Marcia Prose.
The fair opens at 9 a.m. all three days, closing at 5 p.m. Thursday and Friday and at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday.
“Our annual Christmas craft fair is again presented with a kamaaina theme,” said Prose. “All our vendors are local, your neighbors and friends. Craft fair shopping with us is like visiting your family where you’ll find your favorite aunties and tutus.”
Offered for sale will be many sewn items such as kitchen towels, aprons, futons, bags and baby items.
Unique photography, handmade soaps and lotions, jewelry, clothing and plenty of great gift ideas will be available both inside the mall and outside along the sidewalk.
“The Hilo Shopping Center was the first shopping center on the entire Island of Hawaii, built after the devastating 1960 tsunami. The sidewalk sales of the original merchants provided a basis for the current craft fairs of today,” said Prose.
The public is invited and there is no admission fee to the fair.
