Keaau High School students get poetic
Truth 2 Youth, a local all-volunteer group, hosted two Youth Speaks Hawaii slam poets to conduct poetry workshops at Keaau High April 29-30.
Making it possible were funds from the Hawaii Community Foundation and the Diane Middleton Foundation.
Each workshop provided time for students to share the beginnings of their own writing, with 500 students attending the seven workshops run expertly by Jocelyn Ng and Sterling Higa. Some of the students will refine this writing into poems that they will perform for the student body during an assembly this week.
