Korean War veterans to host ceremony Monday in Hilo
Members of the Korean War Veterans Association Big Island Chapter No. 231 will host Hilo’s annual Veterans Day Memorial Ceremony at 11 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 11, at the Hilo Veterans Cemetery No. 1 pavilion. The public is invited.
“We especially welcome the families and friends of those veterans who honorably served and those who gave their all during the past wars and conflicts,” said spokesman Bob Karp, KWVA secretary.
A short ceremony will include KWVA Chairman Hiroshi Shima as emcee, and Lt. Col. Eric Shwedo, the Pohakuloa Training Area commander. The program will feature a posting of the colors, an invocation, a solemn service and floral presentations by local veterans groups.
