Mormon Helping Hands annual cleanup April 27
As a worldwide effort, the Hilo East Stake of the Church of Jesus Christ of
Latter Day Saints will be participating in an annual cleanup day on Saturday,
April 27, beginning at 9 a.m.
This service project — called Mormon Helping Hands — will focus on improving and beautifying many public parks within communities from Ka‘u to Laupahoehoe.
The facilities are Whittington Beach Park, Mountain View Gym,
Issac Hale Park in Pohoiki, Carvalho Park, Lokahi Park and Laupahoehoe Beach
“The public is welcome to join in, from 8 years of age and up, at any of these
various sites. Look for the bright yellow vests that our members will be
wearing. Service will include painting and general clea up,” said spokeswoman Suellen Tanaka. “Please bring your gloves and rakes if you have them.”
