Pahoa Library to close temporarily for renovation

Pahoa Public & School Library will close temporarily for termite tenting and circulation desk replacement at 1 p.m. Sept. 28. The book drop will be locked and unaccessible from 2 p.m. through the duration of the project.

While the Pahoa Public & School Library is closed, patrons may visit these neighboring libraries: Keaau Public and School Library (16-571 Keaau-Pahoa Road, telephone: 982-4281); Mountain View Public & School Library (18-1235 Volcano Highway, telephone: 968-2322); and Hilo Public Library (300 Waianuenue Ave., telephone: 933-8888).

“Please call these libraries for their current public service hours,” said a spokesman for the Hawaii State Public Library System.

Patrons may log-on to the Library System’s website, www.librarieshawaii.org, to browse for book titles, eBooks, digital audio books and a wide variety of online databases which provide access to full-text materials from thousands of magazines, newspapers, journals and other publications.

Get answers to brief informational reference questions by using the “Ask-A-Librarian” E-Reference service: select the “Information” tab, click on “E-Reference” and follow the simple instructions. A library card is not required to use this service.

Pahoa Public & School Library is tentatively scheduled to reopen in October. An announcement will be made when the reopening date is confirmed.
