Parker School Debate Team excels on Oahu
The Parker School Debate Team finished second to winner Iolani School at the Feb. 16 Mid-Pacific Institute Qualifying Debate Tournament on Oahu. Fourteen schools participated in the six-round, 15-hour tournament.
Parker students took first place in four out of the six debate categories: Paul Gregg in Championship Lincoln-Douglas Debate, Sivan Najita in Novice Lincoln-Douglas Debate, Elliott Jacobson and Maia Tarnas in Advanced Public Forum Debate, and Kyley Nishimura and Nya Phillips in Beginning Public Forum Debate.
Lysha Matsunobu qualified in Championship Lincoln-Douglas Debate, and Keala Prietto and Nohili Thompson qualified in Advanced Public Forum Debate. From the last two qualifying tournaments, Parker now has 15 students who have qualified for the state tournament in April.
