Puna Hongwanji mission to hold pre-bazaar cinder sale on Sept. 14
Puna Hongwanji mission members and volunteers will hold a work day and pre-bazaar cinder sale from 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday, Sept. 14, on the mission grounds at 16-592 Old Volcano Road in the heart of Keaau. Cinders will be sold for $3.50 per bag. Delivery of cinders can be scheduled with a minimum purchase of 10 bags at $4 a bag, said James L. Potter, chairman of this year’s Puna Hongwanji Mission Cinder Sale and Bazaar.
The congregation is gearing up for this popular annual event, which will be held from 7-11 a.m. on Oct. 12.
“Coordinators promise another exciting and fun event,” said Potter. “We’ll have our famous laulau and smoked pork, plus many other great foods for those who work up an appetite shopping. Along with our annual rummage sale, we will have our silent auction that you won’t want to miss.
“This year, La‘akea Solar Technology, LLC will be donating a 10-panel photovolteic system which includes installation. A great chance to start saving on electric bills. You win it and they will install it free. So don’t miss out on a chance to get this way below its true value,” he said.
Also Puna Hongwanji is now accepting donations for the bazaar rummage sale.
Items can be dropped off at the temple grounds next to the social hall. Look for drop-off sign. For more information, please call 981-0941.
