The American Red Cross is recruiting disaster volunteers on the east side of the Island of Hawaii. Barney Sheffield, Hawaii disaster coordinator, said, “To ensure East Hawaii communities are prepared for disasters before they occur, we need trained volunteers ready to respond. Please join our Red Cross ohana.” All disaster training is provided free of charge.
Register online at www.redcross.org/hawaii. Click on “Volunteer, Becoming a Volunteer.” The Red Cross will contact interested individuals about signing up for basic disaster classes.
